Game Recap Holy Angels defeated Hill-Murray for the second time this year with an impressive 3-0 shutout. The Stars scored twice in 32 seconds and played tight defense the rest of the game to improve to 14-0-1. The first period was evenly played with both teams having several scoring chances. Holy Angels' best pressure came in the final two minutes, and Phillippi stopped Britton Smith from point-blank range. The Pioneers' best chance came early in the second, when Nick Larson deflected Tyler Zepeda's pass with his skate to send Ryan Furne on a breakaway, but Michael Webb extended his right leg to make a save. Holy Angels broke through at 7:07, when Bryan Brutlag came up the left side and passed to Danny Mattson, who quickly flipped the puck to Smith who scored from the top of the crease. The Stars made it 2-0 seconds later, just as a Hill-Murray power play started. Chase Polacek turned the puck over behind the net and found Austin Wetmore wide open in the slot, and his shot found the upper corner. Back to back penalties gave Holy Angels a 5 on 3 for over a minute, and they racked up several shots but did not score. Phillippi stopped Shawn Wick on the doorstep just as the second penalty expired. Another turnover gave the Stars a 2 on 1 early in the third, and Joe Keske set up Colby Courrier-Oaster for the third and final goal.
