2002-2003 Hill-Murray Hockey
- Senior captain Garrett Regan, always a
hard-working team player, received numerous individual honors including
being a finalist for the Mr. Hockey award. Regan finished a three year
career at Hill-Murray with 68 goals and 69 assists for 137 points, and
went on to play for Notre Dame.
- Because they were dropped from the Capital City
Classic late along with Edina, Hill-Murray played in a round-robin
holiday tournament on the Iron Range. They lost to Edina,
which was ranked #1 in the state at the time, but beat Greenway and
Hibbing by one goal each.
- The Classic Suburban featured three top-notch
players in Regan, Nate Dey of North St. Paul, and Brent Borgen of
Mahtomedi. The Pioneers split the series with North but lost
to and tied Tartan, giving the Polars the conference crown by a half
game.
- The numbers
on the visiting jerseys were changed from green to white after
commentator Lou Nanne (and others) complained that they were indistinct
during the 2002 tournament.
